Book Summary:
Katz delights children through piggy backing traditional tunes with his own hilarious poetry.  Song about awful auntie kisses, dirty diapers, and days when you seem to break everything makes this an excellent read-aloud and a book of non-stop laughter.

My Thoughts:
Two words...pure enjoyment. Katz and Catrow are the best combination for hilarious books.  I loved the "simple and fun" way to bring up topics like household chores, eating habits, and personal hygiene,  in a way that doesn't come across as prechy or moralistic. Catrow's scratchy over-sized illustrations bring life and extra explanation to Katz' rhyming songs. The abundance of detail makes this the perfect book for re-reading as children will see something different each time.  This is a must have for any collection!

Library Toolbox of Tips and Tricks:
This is a fun book to read aloud in the library. Try just humming one of the tunes from the book to see if the children can guess what it is. It is a great way to teach about piggy backing songs, and changing words to make new songs.  Play a tune during morning announcements and make a contest to see who can write a new theme song for the library!
